Development of the Consumer Price Index / Inflation in Singaraja City, April 2021

Abstract

In April 2021, Singaraja City experienced deflation as deep as 0.15 percent with a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) from 108.31 in March 2021 to 108.15 in April 2021. The inflation rate for the calendar year April 2021 is as high as 1, 84 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2021 against April 2020 or YoY)

recorded as high as 3.16 percent. Three expenditure groups recorded deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) at 1.22 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), with a depth of 0.36 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, three other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group IV (equipment, tools and routine household maintenance) as high as 4.11 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.61 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.56 percent. Five other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely group V (health), group VII (information, communication and financial services), group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture), group IX (education), and group X (provision of food and beverages / restaurants).


Commodities recorded as contributing to deflation in April 2021 include cayenne pepper, wardrobe, cobs, eggplant, kale, tuna / ambu-ambu, rafters, lamuru fish, door leaves, ginger, green beans, white cabbage / cabbage, watermelon, garlic, spinach, wafers, long beans, car, liquid / dish soap, and soft drinks.


Of the 90 CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Jayapura (Papua) as deep as 1.26 percent, while the lowest deflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung Islands) as deep as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Kotamobagu (North Sulawesi) as high as 1.31 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Yogyakarta (DI Yogyakarta) as high as 0.01 percent. If sorted from the deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 11 out of 18 cities experiencing deflation.
