Abstract
In November 2020, Denpasar City experienced inflation as high as 0.20 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) from 103.37 in October 2020 to 103.58 in November 2020. Meanwhile, the deflation rate for the calendar year (year to date / ytd) November 2020 was recorded at -0.07 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2020 against November 2019 or YoY) was recorded as high as 0.72 percent.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group I (food, beverage and tobacco) as high as 1.41 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.19 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.14 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.10 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, four expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, tools and routine household maintenance) at -1.05 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as deep as -0.51 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as -0.22 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) at -0.11 percent. Two other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely group IX (education) and group X (provision of food and beverages / restaurants).
Commodities recorded as contributing to or contributing to inflation in November 2020 include red onions, red chilies, purebred chicken, pork, tomatoes, oranges, garlic, mustard greens, bird's eye chilies, and green beans.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 83 cities experienced inflation and 7 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kota Tual (Maluku) as high as 1.15 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Kota Bima (West Nusa Tenggara) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) as deep as -0.22 percent, while the lowest deflation was recorded in Meulaboh City (Aceh) and Palopo City (South Sulawesi) as deep as -0.01 percent respectively. If sorted from highest inflation, Denpasar City ranks 65th out of 83 cities experiencing inflation.
