Abstract

In September 2018, Singaraja City recorded a deflation of 0.71 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 141.01. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - September 2018) was recorded at 0.97 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2018 against September 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.54 percent.

Deflation was indicated by the decline in the index in two expenditure groups, namely the foodstuffs group and the housing, water, electricity and fuel group which recorded deflation of 2.24 percent and 0.51 percent respectively. While the group that recorded an increase in index or experienced inflation was the clothing group of 0.50 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.14 percent; health group by 0.08 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0.03 percent. 

Commodities recorded as contributing to or contributing to deflation in September 2018 include: cayenne pepper, chicken meat, shallots, beans, chicken eggs, cucumber, vegetable tomatoes, red chili and mustard greens.
