July 31, 2025 | Other Activities
A member of Committee I of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) representing Bali Province, Dr. Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna (AWK), paid a working visit to the Bali Provincial Statistics Office (BPS) to discuss the use of poverty data, the challenges of statistical literacy, and the importance of cross-institutional collaboration and synergy ahead of the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) next year (July 31).
At the meeting, the Head of BPS Bali Province, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, explained the definition and approach used in calculating poverty. He stated that although the poverty rate in Bali has decreased, challenges remain, particularly related to inequality and the equitable distribution of development outcomes.
AWK encouraged BPS to strengthen statistical literacy and establish more open communication with policymakers. BPS is also expected to expand partnerships with the DPD RI, universities, schools, and associations, and ensure transparent and contextual data publication.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to strengthen statistical literacy and further synergy ahead of the 2026 Economic Census.
