Development of the Singaraja City Consumer Price Index October 2023

Abstract

In October 2023, Singaraja City was recorded as experiencing inflation as high as 0.44 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 117.14. The inflation rate for the October 2023 calendar year is as high as 2.96 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2023 to October 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 3.65 percent.

Six expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 1.01 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.43 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.25 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) as high as 0.23 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.05 percent; and group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups were recorded as not experiencing index changes or stagnating, namely group II (clothing and footwear); group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel); group V (health); group IX (education); and group X (food and drink/restaurant provision).

Of the 90 cities monitored for national inflation month to month (m to m), 69 cities were recorded as experiencing inflation and 21 cities were recorded as experiencing deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gorontalo City (Gorontalo) at 1.00 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Tasikmalaya City (West Java) at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Tual City (Maluku) at 1.08 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) at 0.01 percent. If ranked by highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 15th out of 69 cities that experienced inflation.
