In May 2022, Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.73 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 109.10 in April 2022 to 109.90 in May 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year ( year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (May 2022 to May 2021 or year on year/YoY) were recorded as high as 3.37 percent and 4.51 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, ten expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 4.70 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 1.47 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.74 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 0.61 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.61 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.40 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.38 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.22 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.19 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, another expenditure group experienced deflation, namely group VII (information, communication, and financial services) of 0.26 percent.
Of the 90 cities observed for inflation, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung Islands) as high as 2.24 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Kotamobagu (North Sulawesi) at 0.21 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City with 0.73 percent inflation ranks 41st out of 87 cities experiencing inflation.
