In June 2021 Denpasar City was recorded to experience deflation as deep as 0.36 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 105.16 in May 2021 to 104.78 in June 2021. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and year-to-year inflation rates (June 2021 against June 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.54 percent and 0.36 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, three expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) of 2.27 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as deep as 0.77 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 0.53 percent. Meanwhile, four expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely: group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 1.81 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.89 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.47 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.04 percent. The other four expenditure groups recorded no change in index or stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group VII (information, communication, and financial services), group IX (education), and group X ( provision of food and beverages/restaurants).
Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to deflation in June 2021 include broiler chicken, cayenne pepper, red chili, shallots, mangoes, watermelons, bananas, men's collared shirts, oranges, and tomatoes.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 56 cities experienced deflation and 34 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Kupang City as deep as 0.89 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Palembang City as deep as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Singkawang City as high as 1.36 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pekanbaru City and Tanjung Selor City at 0.01 percent respectively. If sorted from deepest deflation, Denpasar City ranks 11th out of 56 cities experiencing deflation.
