Abstract

In May 2021 Denpasar City was recorded to experience deflation as deep as 0.59 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 105.78 in April 2021 to 105.16 in May 2021. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and year-to-year inflation rates (May 2021 against May 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.90 percent and 0.81 percent, respectively.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 4.19 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 1.30 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as 1.04 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as deep as 0.78 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as 0.12 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as deep as 0.11 percent; and group V (health) as deep as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, three expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely: group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.56 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.46 percent; and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.07 percent. One other expenditure group recorded no change in index or was stagnant, namely group IX (education).

Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to deflation in May 2021 include canang sari, cayenne pepper, broiler meat, red chilies, shallots, air transportation fares, shirts without men's collars, oranges, disposable baby diapers, and mustard greens. white.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 12 cities experienced deflation and 78 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Timika City as deep as 0.83 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Palembang City as deep as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Manokwari City as high as 1.82 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Tembilahan City as high as 0.01 percent. If sorted from deepest deflation, Denpasar City ranks 2nd out of 12 cities experiencing deflation.
