Abstract

In October 2020, Singaraja City experienced deflation of -0.21 percent with the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 104.68. The inflation rate for the year in October 2020 was recorded as high as 1.01 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2020 against October 2019 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.48 percent.


Three expenditure groups recorded deflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, tools and routine household maintenance) at a depth of -4.11 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) at -0.17 percent; and group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) at -0.07 percent. Meanwhile, six expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 1.06 percent, group VI (transportation) as high as 0.68 percent, group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.27 percent. ; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.15 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.12 percent and group V (health) as high as 0.08 percent. Two other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely group IX (education) and group X (provision of food and beverages / restaurants).


Commodities recorded as contributing to deflation in October 2020 include canang sari, water spinach, eggs, tuna / ambu-ambu, snacks and tuna.


Of the 90 CPI cities, 24 cities experienced deflation and 66 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Manokwari as deep as -1.81 percent while the lowest deflation was recorded in Surabaya as deep as -0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Sibolga at 1.04 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in four cities, namely Jakarta, Cirebon, Bekasi and Jember with 0.01 percent each. If sorted from the deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 14 out of 24 cities experiencing deflation.
