Starting 2018 with the Balinese economic discussion is important to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the Balinese economy. Seeing the phenomenon that occurred during the year 2017, of course this can be used as a reference to take policy steps in 2018. On this occasion TVRI held a talk show titled Opportunities and Challenges of the Economy of Bali by inviting 3 competent resource persons in their field, one of which Head of BPS Bali Province. In a 45-minute talk show, lots of interesting discussions include how the economy trends over the past year and what opportunities exist in 2018.
Head of BI, Causa Imam Karana stated that in fact the Bali Economy is in uphill condition until the third quarter of 2017, but instantly surprised by the majestic mountain status at the end of the year, the economy was shocked by 50% depending on the tourism sector. There are several sectors of business field that need to be considered namely Bali exports from the side of goods (fish), Bali also has the potential of cocoa and coffee plantations with international quality.
Another idea is to improve the creative industries based on the development of tourism, agriculture, and the creative economy. The synergies of these three sectors will drive the economy, enhance competitiveness, and add value to Bali. Another opinion, Bali must be rebuilt from the root of the problem of tourism. Tourism should absorb Bali's agricultural products and the products of the kretaif industry. Community-based High Quality Tourism in the form of a tourist village needs to be developed because only 8% ownership of tourism sector owned by the Balinese is the area of Sanur, Ubud and a small part in Kuta. The development of agribusiness agriculture with the integration of agro-tourism developed in the village will be an extraordinary synergy.
While Ka. BPS Bali Province agreed if the economy of Bali is very dependent of tourism. one of Bali Province's GRDP structure is 23% more donated by accommodation and beverage sector, even Bali tourism sector supports up to 50% national tourism sector. This means that if anything happens in Bali the national economy is also shaken, Bali's economic life is highly dependent on the tourism sector.
