Abstract

  • The Gender Inequality Index (GII) of Bali Province decreased by 0.056 points to 0.183 in 2024. The GII ranges from 0 to 1, with lower values indicating lower inequality or higher gender equality.
  • The decline in Bali's GII was mainly driven by improved performance in reproductive health. This is reflected in the decreasing proportion of women aged 15–49 who gave birth to their most recent child outside of a health facility in the past two years and the declining proportion of women aged 15–49 who gave birth to their first child before the age of 20.
  • However, the performance in the empowerment and labor market dimensions showed increasing gender disparities compared to 2023. In the empowerment dimension, the gap between men and women in the percentage of the population aged 25 and over with at least a senior high school education widened. Meanwhile, in the labor market dimension, the gender gap in the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) also grew.
