In October 2023, the combined CPI for Denpasar City and Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.18 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 115.15 in September 2023 to 115.36 in October 2023. Meanwhile Therefore, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ ytd) in October 2023 is 1.86 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (October 2023 to October 2022 or yoy) was recorded as high as 2.64 percent.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in the prices of public consumption goods/services as indicated by an increase in the CPI in five expenditure groups, namely: group VI (transportation) as high as 1.05 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.20 percent; group X (food and beverage/restaurant provision) as high as 0.18 percent; group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 0.15 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.01 percent. On the other hand, two groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) at 0.17 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) at 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, there were four groups which were recorded as having experienced no change or were stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel); group V (health); group VIII (recreation, sports and culture); and group IX (education).
On a year-on-year (yoy) basis, Denpasar City recorded inflation of 2.49 percent, while Singaraja City recorded inflation of 3.65 percent. Nationally, the highest yoy inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City (Bangka Belitung) at 5.43 percent. On the other hand, the lowest inflation was recorded in Jayapura City (Papua) at 1.43 percent. If ranked by highest yoy inflation, Denpasar City is listed in 61st place, while Singaraja City is listed in 13th place.
