Abstract

In April 2023 Singaraja City was recorded as having experienced a deflation of 0.22 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 115.41. The April 2023 calendar year inflation rate was as high as 1.44 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2023 against April 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 4.09 percent.

Three expenditure groups recorded deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) by 1.07 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and household routine maintenance) as deep as 0.22 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as deep as 0.01 percent. Four groups experienced inflation, namely group VI (transportation) as high as 1.20 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.54 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.09 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the other four expenditure groups experienced no changes in index or were stagnant, namely group II (clothing and footwear); group VIII (recreation, sports and culture); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).

Of the 90 CPI cities, 77 cities experienced inflation and 13 cities experienced deflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in the City of Meulaboh (Aceh) as deep as 0.70 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in the City of Pekanbaru (Riau) and Kotamobagu City (North Sulawesi) each with a depth of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Jayapura City (Papua) as high as 1.44 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Sorong City (West Papua) as high as 0.01 percent. If sorted from the deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 5th out of 13 cities experiencing deflation.
