Abstract

In December 2022 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.46 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (2018=100 base year) from 112.65 in November 2022 to 113.17 in December 2022. Meanwhile, the calendar year inflation rate ( year to date/ytd) equals the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2022 against December 2021 or year on year/yoy) recorded as high as 6.44 percent each.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups experienced inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) of 1.36 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) of 1.06 percent; group X (provision of food and beverages/restaurants) by 0.51 percent; group VI (transportation) by 0.22 percent; group V (health) by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, three expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) by -0.82 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) by -0.06 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) by -0.02 percent. While the other three expenditure groups are group II (clothing and footwear); group IV (equipment, equipment, and household routine maintenance); and group IX (education) did not experience a change in index or was stagnant.

Of the 90 cities observed by the National Inflation, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in the city of Bandung (West Java) at 2.04 percent; while the lowest inflation was recorded in Sorong City (West Papua) of 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City with inflation as high as 0.46 percent ranks 73rd out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
