Abstract

In July 2022, Bali Province (Denpasar City and Singaraja City Combined) recorded inflation as high as 0.89 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 111.12 in June 2022 to 112.11 in July 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) in July 2022 was 5.13 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (July 2022 versus July 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 6.73 percent.

Inflation occurred due to the increase in the prices of public consumption goods/services as indicated by the increase in CPI in seven expenditure groups, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 2.06 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 1.71 percent; group IX (education) as high as 1.70 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 1.65 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.94 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.56 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.18 percent. Three other groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 3.32 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 0.40 percent; and group XI (personal care and other services) as deep as 0.28 percent. One other group was recorded to be stagnant or not experiencing changes in

he index, namely group VII (information, communication, and financial services).
Of the 90 CPI cities, all cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi) at 2.27 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pematang Siantar (North Sumatra) and Tanjung (South Kalimantan) as high as 0.04 percent each. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City ranks 25th and Singaraja City ranks 69th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
