Abstract

In April 2022, Bali Province (Denpasar City and Singaraja City Combined) recorded inflation as high as 1.00 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 108.25 in March 2022 to 109.33 in April 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) in April 2022 was 2.52 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (April 2022 versus April 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 3.05 percent.

Inflation occurred due to the increase in the price of public consumption goods/services as indicated by the increase in CPI in nine expenditure groups, namely: group VI (transportation) as high as 3.04 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 2.01 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 1.15 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.94 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.28 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.12 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.10 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.06 percent; and group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.02 percent. Two other groups recorded deflation, namely group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 0.61 percent and group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as deep as 1.33 percent.

Of the 90 CPI cities, all cities recorded inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City (Bangka Belitung Islands) as high as 2.58 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli City (North Sumatra) as high as 0.22 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City ranks 49th and Singaraja City ranks 62nd out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
