Development of the Consumer Price Index / Inflation of Singaraja City in May 2019

Abstract

In May 2019 the city of Singaraja recorded inflation of 0.28 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) amounting to 144.08. The inflation rate for the calendar year was 1.27 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2019 to May 2018 or YoY) was 2.25 percent.


Inflation (m to m) is indicated by an increase in the index in six expenditure groups, namely group VII (transportation, communication, and financial services) of 0.89 percent; group I (foodstuffs) by 0.59 percent; group IV (clothing) by 0.25 percent; group V (health) by 0.15 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and fuel) by 0.09 percent and group VI (education, recreation and sports) by 0.01 percent. While the group recorded a decline in index or deflation was group II (processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco) by -0.13 percent.


Commodities listed as contributing or contributing to inflation in May 2019 include: shallots, intercity transportation, broiler meat, apples, garlic, bananas, race chicken eggs, powder / liquid detergent soap, spinach, mustard greens, parking rates , beans and oranges.


Out of 82 CPI cities, 81 cities experienced inflation and only 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) of 2.91 percent and the lowest was in Kediri (East Java) of 0.05 percent. The only city recorded to experience deflation is in Merauke (Papua) of -0.49 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 73 out of 81 cities experiencing inflation.
