Abstract

In March 2019 the city of Singaraja recorded inflation of 0.35 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) of 143.12. The inflation rate for the calendar year was recorded at 0.59 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2019 against March 2018 or YoY) was 0.97 percent.

 

Inflation (m to m) is indicated by an increase in the index in four expenditure groups, namely group I (foodstuffs) by 1.06 percent; group II (processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco) by 0.46 percent; group IV (clothing) by 0.23 percent and group V (health) by 0.11 percent. While the group recorded a decline in index or deflation was group VII (transportation, communication and financial services) of -0.16 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and fuel) of -0.14 percent and group VI (education, recreation, and sports) by -0.08 percent.

 

Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to inflation in March 2019 include: ground coffee, shallots, bean sprouts, bananas, instant dry noodles, apples, bottled water, cob / ambush, beans, garlic and bark.

 

Out of 82 CPI cities, 51 cities experienced inflation and 31 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ambon (Maluku) by 0.86 percent and the lowest in Bekasi (West Java) and Tangerang (Banten) by 0.01 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) of -3.03 percent and the lowest recorded in Palembang (South Sumatra), Batam (Riau Islands) and Sampit (West Kalimantan) were -0.01 percent respectively. If sorted from the highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 8th out of 51 cities experiencing inflation.
