Abstract

In January 2019 the city of Singaraja recorded inflation of 0.58 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) amounting to 143.10. The inflation rate for the calendar year was also recorded at 0.58 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2019 against January 2018 or YoY) was 1.59 percent.


Inflation (m to m) is indicated by an increase in the index in five expenditure groups, namely group I (foodstuffs) by 1.45 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and fuel) of 0.71 percent; group IV (clothing) of 0.42 percent; group V (health) by 0.39 percent and group II (processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco) by 0.01 percent. While the group recorded a decline in index or deflation was group VII (transportation, communication and financial services) of 0.35 percent and group VI (education, recreation, and sports) of 0.03 percent.


Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to inflation in January 2019 include: cayenne pepper, artisan, non-foreman, broiler meat, rice, shallots, tuna / ambush, squid, banana, motorcycle, liniment, carrots, wet shrimp, broiler eggs, house contracts and vegetable tomatoes.


Of the 82 CPI cities, 73 cities experienced inflation and 9 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung Islands) of 1.23 percent and the lowest was in Pematang Siantar (North Sumatra) of 0.01 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) of 0.87 percent while the deflation of the lowest was recorded in Merauke (Papua) by 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 20th out of 73 cities experiencing inflation.
