In December 2018, Denpasar City experienced inflation of 0.77 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) amounting to 131.50. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - December 2018) equals the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2018 to December 2017 or YoY) recorded at 3.40 percent.
Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group I (foodstuffs) of 2.69 percent; group VII (transportation, communication and financial services) of 1.05 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel) of 0.28 percent; group V (health) 0.19 percent; and group VI (education, recreation, and sports) by 0.02 percent. The two expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (clothing) by 0.61 percent and group II (processed food, drinks, cigarettes, and tobacco) by 0.01 percent.
Commodities listed as contributing or contributing to inflation in December 2018 include: chicken meat, shallots, rice, pindang tuna, green mustard, air freight, cement, and wages for domestic servants.
