• In September 2018 Denpasar City recorded a deflation of 0.52 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 130.18. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - September 2018) was recorded at 2.37 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2018 against September 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.61 percent.

• Three expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely the foodstuff group of 2.70 percent; clothing group by 0.81 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.40 percent. Four expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely the education, recreation and sports group by 0.56 percent; health group by 0.41 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.24 percent; as well as processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups by 0.06 percent.

• Commodities that have been recorded as contributing to or contributing to deflation in September 2018 include: chicken meat, cayenne pepper, shallots, red chili, tuna fish, green beans, rice, and air freight rates.
