Increase in International Tourist Arrivals to Bali

The number of international tourist (foreign visitor) arrivals directly to Bali in July 2025 was recorded at 697.11 thousand visits, an increase of 11.42 percent compared to July 2024, which recorded 625.67 thousand visits. Cumulatively, from January to July 2025, the total number of foreign tourist visits to Bali reached 3.98 million, an increase of 12.46 percent compared to the same period in 2024. In July 2025, the largest number of international tourists came from Australia (23.10 percent), followed by China (8.56 percent) and India (6.50 percent).

Another tourism indicator released by BPS Bali Province is the number of domestic tourist (wisnus) trips to Bali, which in July 2025 reached 2.29 million trips, an increase of 31.96 percent compared to July 2024. Of this number, 78.46 percent or 1.80 million trips were intra-provincial trips (between regencies/cities within the province), while inter-provincial trips (between provinces) totaled 494.01 thousand trips (21.54 percent). Badung Regency was the most visited destination by domestic tourists, with 604.71 thousand trips. Tourists from East Java Province were the highest contributors to domestic tourist arrivals to Bali in July 2025, with 172.26 thousand trips.

Furthermore, the occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in July 2025 was recorded at 67.75 percent, an increase of 3.10 percentage points compared to June 2025. Meanwhile, the occupancy rate of non-star hotels stood at 49.00 percent, up 2.90 percentage points from June 2025.

Deflation Occurred in August 2025

BPS Bali Province recorded deflation of 0.39 percent (month-to-month) in August 2025. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased from 110.06 in July 2025 to 109.63 in August 2025. On an annual basis, inflation stood at 2.65 percent, while year-to-date inflation reached 1.63 percent.

The main contributors to monthly deflation (m-to-m) were:

The Food, Beverages, and Tobacco group, which experienced deflation of 1.46 percent, contributing 0.46 percent to overall deflation;

The Transportation group, with deflation of 0.36 percent (contribution: 0.04 percent);

The Personal Care and Other Services group, with deflation of 0.32 percent (contribution: 0.03 percent).

Key commodities contributing to deflation in August 2025 included tomatoes, bird's eye chilies, pork, green beans, airfares, canang sari (Balinese offerings), gasoline, and long beans.

Meanwhile, commodities contributing to inflation included shallots, high school tuition fees, rice, household fuels, papayas, college tuition fees, chicken eggs, primary school tuition fees, and broiler chicken meat.

Based on monitoring in four CPI (Consumer Price Index) areas in Bali Province, all regions experienced deflation (m-to-m). The highest deflation was recorded in Tabanan Regency at 0.69 percent, while the lowest was in Denpasar City, at 0.19 percent.

Farmers' Terms of Trade Decreased

The Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP) in Bali in August 2025 was recorded at 98.95, a decrease of 2.69 percent compared to July 2025. This decrease occurred due to a 2.76 percent drop in the price index received by farmers (It), which fell to 124.93. Meanwhile, the price index paid by farmers (Ib) also decreased slightly by 0.07 percent to 126.25.

By sub-sector, the highest NTP was in the people's plantation crops subsector at 107.83, followed by the food crops subsector at 103.22. The lowest NTP was recorded in the livestock subsector at 91.34.

The Household Farming Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) in Bali for August 2025 was 105.21, down 2.97 percent from the previous month. This decline was due to a 2.76 percent drop in the price index received by farmers (It), while the index of production costs and capital additions (BPPM) increased by 0.22 percent. Commodities contributing to the increase in BPPM included corn kernels, harvesting labor costs, and rice bran.

Positive Performance in Bali’s Trade Balance

Bali Province recorded a positive trade balance again. According to data from BPS Bali Province, the trade balance of goods showed a surplus of US$239.35 million during the period January to July 2025.

Specifically, Bali’s export value during this period was US$322.76 million, higher than imports, which amounted to US$83.41 million. During January to July 2025, fruit exports recorded the highest performance, increasing by 419.64 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

The United States remained Bali’s main export market, with a value of US$104.18 million (32.28 percent), followed by China (US$26.36 million or 8.17 percent), and Australia (US$24.76 million or 7.67 percent).

On the import side, Bali’s import value from January to July 2025 was US$83.41 million, a decrease of 11.35 percent compared to the same period the previous year. In terms of usage, there was an increase in imports of raw materials or auxiliary goods by US$7.47 million, or 18.49 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

During this period, the United States was also the main source country for imported goods to Bali, with a value of US$21.08 million (25.27 percent), followed by China (US$15.09 million or 18.09 percent), and Australia (US$5.43 million or 6.40 percent).

Increase in Flights and Air Passengers Departing from Bali

The number of international flights departing from Bali in July 2025 was 3,531 flights, up 7.69 percent from the previous month (3,279 flights). In terms of passengers, 720,680 international passengers departed from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, an increase of 5.53 percent compared to June 2025.

Meanwhile, domestic flights were recorded at 3,032 flights, up 10.21 percent from the previous month (2,751 flights). The number of domestic passengers departing reached 433,517 people, an increase of 17.03 percent compared to the previous month.
