Deputy for Methodology and Statistical Information, Imam Machdi, accompanied by the Head of BPS for Bali Province, Hanif Yahya, and Main Expert Statistics, Heru Margono, attended the Working Visit of the DPR RI Legislative Body in the context of Preparing the Statistics Bill at the Main Wiswa Sabha Building, Bali Governor's Office (10/ 4).
The meeting, chaired by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, aims to obtain comprehensive input from stakeholders in the Province of Bali, including the ranks of the Provincial Government, Forkopimda, OPD, universities, community leaders and the media in the Province of Bali. This input is important as material for preparing the Academic Paper and Statistics Bill. In his speech, Koster said, “We increasingly need statistics for accurate planning. "That is why I strongly support the DPR RI initiative, in this case the DPR RI Legislative Body, to prepare this Draft Law on Statistics."
The Head of the Baleg Team, Taufik Basari, emphasized the importance of revising the Statistics Law, which is now 26 years old. With the various changes and developments that have occurred since 1997, such as changes in state administration and information technology, of course adjustments, improvements and refinements are needed.
In the discussion session, various valuable input was collected from the participants both verbally and in writing, including from BPS. Imam Machdi outlined the issues that need to be refined in the new Statistics Bill, especially regarding institutions, human resources and data quality, while the statistical conditions in Bali Province were conveyed in more detail by Hanif Yahya.
